My top ways to eat oatmeal

Image
I was asked to write about this by one of my personal training clients. She wanted to know how she could make oatmeal mainly for her breakfast. So I decided I would write about it here and share some of my top recipes with a larger audience. Oatmeal in my opinion is one of the most versatile food items you can have in your pantry. There are several types of oats to choose from, some of those types are rolled oats, instant oats, quick oats and steel cut oats. With all these types it might be difficult to chose the perfect type for you.  From a nutritional point of view I recommend eating steel cut oats or rolled old fashioned oats. Steel cut oats also refereed to as Irish oatmeal and is the type that is most closely related to the original oat groat. If you like your oatmeal a bit chewy and nutty in flavor then steel cut oats are your best bet. They have a coarser texture than other forms of oats, they also take a longer time to cook. I tend to eat a lot of rolled oats just

Staying relatively lean while on vacation and eating like a pig

How do you stay lean while eating like a pig on vacation? I was asked this question by a friend and a client recently. Being a fitness coach and trainer, it's important for me to keep my body in check throughout the year. This includes even the off season, but I'm still human at the end of the day. I have cravings and sometimes I feel the urge to indulge from time to time. I use my vacations to do just that. I mean why else would you go on vacation if not for relaxing and letting go for a minute.  Let's also not forget the awesome food, we always eat on vacation. So what's the trick? While i'm not sure what other people do, I'll tell you what I do. I normally try to keep my body fat in the low teens during my off season. This allows me the flexibility of getting lean easily if I need to do a photo shoot or if I have to guest pose at an event. It also allows me the flexibility of not being too strict with food. When planning my vacations I normally plan

Vacation on Hamilton Island.

The paradise right in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. Before heading to the Hamilton Islands for vacation I must admit that I knew absolutely nothing about this island resort. I didn't know where it was or why everyone loved it. a little google search cleared it up for me but still being from Jamaica i'm used to amazing beaches and the slow pace of staying at a resort. However the google searches or my experience of staying at other resorts did not prepare me for how amazing this place was. We arrived on Tuesday morning and as we stepped off the plane and went through the gates of the airport, we were hit by an amazing view of blue, wait not just blue it was as if the water was made of sapphires and crystals. It sparkled as it reflected the sun and the clear skies above. As I watched that view I was certain that i'd love his island. Getting from  the airport to the hotel was quick and easy. Our ride was their waiting to pick us up. The ride took almost 5 min

Tips on saving money and eating out in Japan.

Image
Even though I don't eat out a lot when I do, I like to get my moneys worth. That being said Japan is not the cheapest place to eat, especially if you like to eat a lot. Sure you can find cheap eats here and there but in many of those places they fill you up with rice or bread and not the things that really count, like meat or fish. So how do you eat out and still save money at the same  time? The answer is simple find good tabehoudai (食べ放題 tabehoudai in means all you can eat)restaurants.  When you enter a restaurant that has this option it means that for a set amount of time you can eat anything you want on that given tabehoudai menu. Some restaurants have different options for example options for time, 60min 90min or 120min. Others might have an option for the amount of dishes. So if a tabehoudai costs ¥2000 yen for 60 mins you might have the option of choosing from 30 dishes. The more you pay the more dishes will be available to you. From the above menu you would pay ¥2,6
